Hello all; I have a rose gold Datograph; and recently I had a chance to see the new Datograph up & down in metal at a watch event; very impressive indeed; although the case size is bigger by 2 mm, it felt very balanced and (dare I say!) better proport... 

For me, the original is THE Dato. With its qualities and flaws, and with its flaws which make its strenght. Sorry, but I find the new dial to have much less character and its power reserve indicator irritates me a lot. No way, I would keep the original Da... 

I don't think the original one is either thick or small, which is perfect for me. I'd say power reserve is a useful function, but I don't like the layout in dial. There's something I can't accept is the balance wheel of the new dato, which uses weight ins... 

...of the new Datograph is the most compelling improvement over the old for me. For a manual wind, 36-hour can become a chore very quickly. Otherwise, I also prefer the old face, with the big date and 2 sub-dial triangle matched symmetrically by the upsid... 

I'd suggest keeping your existing for it's charm and allocate the excess funds it would take to get the new pt version for something else. I missed the original Dato pt brand new through my AD because of hesitation and it haunts me. I'm not a big secondar... 

If you like the plat, why don't you trade for the plat. orig. dato. at a fraction what the new plat. would cost. I have seen the up/down in metal and find my orig. dato. plat. to be more classic looking.

But if i had the choice i would definitely go for the Auf Ab as it fits my size criteria. Tschuss Stephen
