It’s not the strap, it’s the long lugs.
They do hand over the edge of my wrist when you look close (and this picture highlights that). The watch is too big (lug to lug) for my wrist, no question in my mind on that.
A 38.5mm Lange 1 case for example, that would be just right.

I like it more too because of the pop of color. My friend has the platinum one that I think has the longer PR, and it's great too. Although tbh I'm super tempted by the striking time which is strangely reasonable for what it is...
