Non-proportionality in dial faces dates back thousands of years: think of sundials. The reason for that non-proportionality is roughly analogous to the reason Mr. Chong identified for non-proportionality in the PR indicator: the angle of the shadow cast by the sun changes at varying rates as the sun moves across the sky.

I am the owner of a new Lange 1. Can someone be kind enough to explain why the PR indicator moves in disproportional increments along the PW indicator. Thank you.
Dont know what you mean by "PW" ...
but the PR indicator is of a non-linear type (although there must be a nicer name/qualification for it). What I mean with it is that the PR hand travels different distances, depending on the state of the watch, on the dial with every 24 hours of power dis...
