WG cases are unplated
G'day,
all WG models, except some few (mostly ladies) models with diamond settings and/or diamond bracelets, are unplated.
Comparing all white gold cases of ALL manufacturers would need to know ALL WG alloys being used (as well as some scientific input); these alloys are usually treated as trade secrets, hence any substantial scientific approach lacks the basic input.
The same goes for colour changes; these can be caused by certain materials which cause oxidation (on the 25% components of the WG alloy not being gold), but long-term wear too. Due to these different reasons, it´s difficult to estimate how it will look like after a given period time.
But it is possible to polish unplated WG cases down the road, which at times can make them appear "brighter" and "more white-ish".
