You're definitely not alone!
I have a friend who also prefers the older matte dial. For me, the newer dial plus the protruding pushbutton is my preferred combination. I have never pushed the button accidentally, nor have I met anyone who has ever pushed it accidentally (or pushed the date button on a Lange 1 accidentally). And if that happened, all anyone would need to do to fix it on the Perpetual is pull out the crown to stop the movement and then not wear the watch for 24 hours -- or reset all the functions using the individual function pushers.
