Yeah,
 It's the winding ratchet for when the watch is manually wound (there's this weird void right below the crown as you saw, and then as in the picture of the disassembled movement there's a gear that's connected to the automatic winding of the rotor.
 
It's just interesting to me, and very funny, that for an advert that focuses so much on the movement, they made a huge blunder with sticking in a watch that
could not be wound in any way! (i.e. the crown won't wind the mainspring, nor will the rotor!)......
 
Maybe it was an angry photographer cum watchmaker who disliked a moving balance in the photograph smile and decided to take matters into his own hands!
