A bit confusing and a bit playful the 4101 ...

 

Certainly, at first glance it has got a WOW-factor, as it looks like the Dead Beat.

As Fernando said already: looks high end.

But at the end of the day it is "not".

It looks very similar like the Panoinverse.

Both have theire appeal, no doubt, but for me they are "all" too playful with the displayed balance wheel.

Now you can say that this is a detail, like a tourbillion, that is more something for the pundit or the enthusiast.

But there are a lot, if not nearly all, other things in the luxury world too that cross the barrier and start to look "embarrasing".


Secondly: it is, as you said , confusing to read the time.

What would irritate me most is the second hand center: I would always assume that this is the 8 o'clock index.


As much as I liked and was impressed by the Ueber-Millenary Dead Beat Second: to me this one is not a really appealing one.

A shame, actually.

But as I mentioned before: understandable if it is ...

SIHH 2011: my top 4 from AP !

I was warmly welcome by the AP staff the last day of the SIHH but due to a very busy activity inside the booth, I was not able to see all the watches. But good news are that I could handle and shoot my fav ones amongst the 2011 novelties. Without any doub...

...is one of my top picks of SIHH this year, as well. A dial with depth, intrigue, extra movement (in the form of the balance wheel), and uniqueness -- it certainly calls to me to be seen in the metal! Thanks for the report and wonderful pictures. Cheers,...

And I really do like your wristshots! Its very refreshing to take a closer look at the other AP models like the JA and the Millenary line. I do agree that this new 4101 is much more exciting than their previous editions and has the appearance of a high en... 

It is nice to see some press for the JA and Millenary lines....

about the Audemars Moon Phase Calendar is that I find the cycle of moon phase too close to the centre of the dial and the solid caseback. The Millenaries on the other hand are superb, very innovative and contemporary. Aris.

I enjoyed a lot in the AP booth, and I was lucky enough to put on my wrist all the novelties (sorry, no pictures). I agree, the new Millenary will be a best seller. And I think to have a model apart to the RO and ROO that will be a true success would made...
