Audemars Piguet

AP Website - International Pricing

I'm in the UK but noticed that the new AP website is currently showing CHF pricing. I was looking at the 15450ST as a model I'm currently interested in and was struck by the pricing disparity between GBP and CHF and I am trying to work out if I am missing something obvious.

This model is priced at CHF20,000 and the AP website says that is including VAT. Based on current FX, that is around GBP15,500, but that same watch from a UK AD is GBP19,800 including VAT (having been subject to a 5% increase earlier this year).

It seems a big differential, almost 30%. Is the CHF price correct, the AP website says including VAT, should it say excluding VAT? I appreciate VAT rates differ and that FX moves quicker than annual watch prices (with GBP having been on a charge post the vaccine roll out) but I feel like that can't equate for the entire differential. I'm sure there are customs factors to be considered, but such a differential seems to be open to abuse by unscrupulous people who might not declare their purchases at international borders. On a plus side, I wonder whether this will help domestic UK buyers as perhaps there will be more availability if UK prices are unattractive to international shoppers (noting travel is limited at the moment).

Thoughts appreciated and apologies in advance if I have missed something glaringly obvious.
