Farewell to calibre 5134...
Hi all,
Amidst the news of the JM Perpetual Calendar release, there was a slightly hidden but significant announcement that the JM would be the last model to house the 5134 movement. It struck me minimally in the beginning, but if you think about all of the PC models that exist today on the basis of the 5134 -
CODE's and Royal Oaks - it would literally mean the end of this generation of watches based on this movement.
It seems that there has gradually been a transition of models off the ultra-thin 2120 movement - and with now the Jumbo and soon the PC, it is an endearing moment and in the history of AP. A little sadness but a little optimism as 2025 marks the 150th anniversary of AP, and I absolutely hope they elevate the PC movement as they did with the Jumbo - we will see but I am absolutely hopeful! The end of the era but possibly the start of something exciting!
In any case, in the spirit of a little nostalgia and homage to the 5134 - wanted to start a post with one of these models - 26585CE - more other 5134 models to come...

I would love to see a BMG / Titanium / Tantalum skeleton perpetual with whatever new movement they put on. It's a little bit of a shame they have only done the Black and Brown ceramic skeletonized with the 5134 base, so I am really really crossing fingers...
