The Jules Audemars Chronometer is something else and must surely be the most expensive time only wristwatch with no diamonds or tourbillon. That high beat is really amazing and as Giulio said, is possible because no lubrication is needed. It was tested to +1.1s per day by COSC (whole watch, not movement only) which is pretty amazing for a back to basics watch without single/multiple axis tourbillon.
Interesting thing is the Chronometer has been in testing for wear and tear, accuracy etc more than 5-6 years ago so PuristS who were on the AP tour got to see the prototype. Plus, we're told a higher beat is in the works, together with a grand sonnerie (I hope this is not off the record).
Giulio and Oliviero are great, fun guys who are open and generous with their time, knowledge and frankness. My thanks to them, the AP team and the PuristS for a fantastic evening. It was also great to see TM again, nice surprise given he was just at the Paris GTG. Looking forward to learning the details of IGOTT2.
BTW Kong, thanks for the strap and if you have a picture of the new ROO EOT Perpetual, that one is a real killer in the metal. This message has been edited by damien on 2010-07-02 10:54:04
