Here is my Royal Oak 15300 which had a fairly short production run from 2006-2011. The dial was the last batch cut from a pentograpgh by Stern creations … the family that owns Patek. This has the AP calibre 3120 which I quite like. IMHO, 39 mm is the idea...  

I learned the hard way that the 41mm 15400 was too big for my wrist. 39mm would have been perfect. Alas, no more integrated bracelets for unless there is on-the-fly microadjustment. Nice to see you showing your non-GP pieces in your collection, every now ...

With the right connections, steel plots on a 15300 and others were possible Also titanium. This topic, along with a few others, were not forum permissible in the day.

For the 15300 to connect to a strap? The only strap model I’m familiar with for the 15300 is the rose gold with black dial. I’m keen to learn more about these steel plots one could buy from AP with the right connections. 🤝

I have quite a box of AP parts, straps, clasps, accessories. I received a few special accommodations over the years. Been meaning to purge and sell things I'll never use. I doubt they could still be sourced now. This would have been circa 2008 I got them.... 

AP made a custom set of steel plots for you to fit a leather strap for the royal oak 15300?

You must know they made things that were never officially for sale. I have seen pieces in person that I never knew existed, and am quite certain there are countless others I have no idea about. Plots were never made specifically for me, but they were made... 

Not sure how much high knowledge I have of AP actually. 😅 just the basics. I know they they made off catalog pieces like most other brands … but never steel plots that would fit a 15300. They had an explicit rule for not allowing non precious white metals...  

I only have a few photos, all on bracelet. The one I preferred on strap was the 39mm Royal Oak Chrono. Here was the 15300 with a 217: This was my favorite model to play with. I wore it mostly on OEM rubber, but here is the Tour Auto. I later custom ordere...

I just wish they'd added crown guards and kept it in production. The crown guards would have added a sporty look and added a little bit of extra self identity.

Have applied here. Crown guards only make sense to me for dive watches and chronographs IMHO. The 15300 has a screw down crown so I think ok as is. It was also made to initially be an improved version of the 15202. Hacking seconds and date etc. yes retain...

Which reference did you try on?

Of the 2 RO I tried on. But they were both blue both 39 mm. It was cool to finally handle and try on in the metal. If I ever went for one in the future it would likely be the 37 mm. That size wasn’t available at any of the local stores in the area to try ...  

And a 50th anniversary 15202 on the right. Can’t tell for sure. 39 mm is the only size I would get if wrist will handle it. From what I recall, your wrist is 7” or so and should be ok.

When I tired them on, the 39 looked a touch large for me, so hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to try on 37 mm soon. Enjoy your lovely AP!

With the exception of the 39 mm AP 1602 (which is really an improved 15202), I’d take the neo vintage AP over modern AP any day of the week.

It was a fantastic timepiece, and while I prefer the thinner case of the Jumbos, this one has a unique proportion set.

15300 over the 15200. 1.x? mm thinner on the 15200 but a much more fragile watch. But both lovely and both at 39 mm … the best size for the Royal Oak IMHO. 🤝
