Audemars Piguet

To be precise, it's not an issue of "breakage"

Hi Andy,

This is nothing like dropping the watch or hitting it on metal resulting in breaking the crystal or knocking off the crown.

This is an issue of the retaining screw coming loose or a combination of tolerances that allowed it to slip out.

Crowns come off the stems frequently (Loctite gives way) and stems come out of the case occasionally like yours did.

Any competent repairman can fix it. If the dealer and AP aren't cooperative to do it for free or close to it, find another person to do it.

Yes, they want to dismantle the whole watch, clean it, replace the hands and gaskets and charge you for everything, but that doesn't mean your watch needs all that. Just their "income stream" needs all that work.

Stand and wait, or try to negotiate them down. If they don't budge, go elsewhere. It's not rocket science or brain surgery.

Best of luck to you,

Cazalea
