I am having the same thought over an over again: Should i sell most of my watches to acquire the car of my dreams? This will obviously make me a bit sad at first, but the thrill level with car should compensate quite well... Cars i have in mind at the mom...

Agree, they are dissapearing. A selfdriving car is a horror-scenario for me when it comes to "fun"

I went GT4 because there was no manual GT3 available at the time but ended up falling for the mid-engine. Considered going to a GT3T when those became available but driving them both back to back in the mountains the (modified) GT4 was the more exciting d...

Power is up to 440hp at the wheels, under 6k rpm not too different from stock but 6k-8k rpm is a rush (early 430hp dyno before exhaust and final tuning but this is close) I never weighted the car post mods but I guess around even? Rollbar is heavy and X51...  

Same 7800 rpm as the GT4 with 420 hp. To be honest ... it didn't feel half as fun as the A110, okay the engine might be quite amazing (but far from the GT3 (or GT4RS) 9000 rpm engine which is the one to get in this case). The drive itself will be differen...

I think about this a lot. My previous car was a BMW Z4m coupe, nearly a foot shorter in length than the Cayman it was smaller, wild, a much more overtly fun car. Less capable, less refined, cheaply built by comparison, but more fun just going for a cup of... 

A few days after I tried a Z4 3.0 ... a bit less careful héhé ... that was already a joy to drive. This engine is a jewel, I also had a go back then in a 630i convertible which was also a very nice experience.

one way being fully built. The other way being as a set for you to build it. i am not sure if this is still the case or of Ultima still exists. Is is actually correct that they use CORVETTE V8 engine?

It puts out around 230 bhp and weighs under 600 kgs. The gearbox is a Caterham 6 speed manual. Once you start this journey you start to delve into the world of upgrading as much as possible. On my car even the front grill is made from titanium.

The 3 pot turbo Suzuki , I think it only weighs 460 kilos.

Have been fitted with a selection of small engines, including motorbike engines and sequential gearboxes. Personally I think something like a Ford Sigma or Duratec is perfectly suited when coupled with the six speed Caterham gearbox.

Since the late 90s and the Rover K-series, all the "standard" engines provided plenty enough power. They can be modified/upgraded easily and are rather reliable. All this for a rather limited weight. Going for motorbike engines is for real racers only and... 

A reasonable amount of weight well distributed is a positive thing when it comes to getting a Caterham off the line from a standing start. I’ve completed in Hill Climb and it’s definitely an advantage off the line.

A Caterham with the 2 liter F4R from my Clio would be amazing. Renault put that engine in their Formula 2000 race cars. 2006-2010 : Formule Renault 2.0, coque carbone (Tatuus Formule Renault 2000 evo 2007), moteur de Renault Clio 3 RS 2.0 F4R8 développant... 

It depends how much passionate you are, about watches and about cars. For me, I like cars, I like to live in a nice place, but the only materialistic real passion I have is watches. So for me, I wouldn't do it. But it depends how much you like cars...

I used to love cars so much in the past... I had nissan 350z, alfa spider, honda s2000, bwm 320is convertible, etc.... ! 10-15 years back, my passion for watches started and i started forgetting the fun cars and bought rather "safe bet" cars, such as Toyo... 

With maturity and competing priorities I’ve calmed down, thankfully. But I still am not able to enjoy cars like many of the serious drivers here. I love reading their passionate reflections and seeing their pics since I learn a lot, but they have a genuin... 

I think that this question comes down mostly to wether any one person has more of a collector mindset and tendencies, or if the person is more of a monomaniacal nature. I, for one, fall firmly in the latter category, so I feel 'blessed' to have always had... 

I sold my most expensive watch ever (will not mention the brand) to buy a Ferrari F8 Tributo, a holiday home on an island and helped out many needy people in poverty by paying for their medical bills, improved their homes and with the change even spoiled ... 

I think it would have been quite wrong of me if I simply spoiled myself and not bothered to help the many whose lives I could have a difference to. Arguably, if I did not buy the F8, I could have done much more to help but I always wanted a Ferrari by the...

I assume that at this point the “value” of the watch just became hard to ignore. I have found myself in similar places, but perhaps with a group of watches versus just a single one. My use of funds is not a car but rather an apartment in Tokyo.

I go back and forth on this. It would be a big decision. But the apartment in Tokyo is my equivalent of the Ferrari for Sham.

which took six years to arrive but well worth the wait. The idea was always to keep it for myself until the market went crazy during covid and the opportunity cost became too great!

Cars are fun in summer, on a nice day. Watches are with you everywhere. At dinner parties, at work, on a long drive. Get a cheaper fun car, enjoy a long loud drive, and keep the watches. Or occasionally rent a really nice car, and see if that itch is real... 

With regards to the cheap car topic. I was also also the toyota yaris gr with a boost on the turbo and some adjustments on the suspension and exhaust.... That could be a fun car for 40k around !

I would say to myself: what watches do I want to sell, without having necessarily a car in mind. I fully agree with the previous post from Berlin Flatline. A car is very nice if you can use it very often, have it almost in a garage next to your living roo... 

its so short in my collection, but probably have already more than 250 pictures with the family
