Genesis Gran Equator Off-Road Concept
From our former participant Luc Donkerwolke, design director at Hyundai/Kia:
“We don't have the design DNA of a Jeep or Range Rover. It's a different brand, so this car has the design DNA of a Genesis. I don't care what the other brands do: I do it my way."
Donckerwolke added that the clean design of the X Gran Equator is deliberate: "We are living in a time where design is over-saturated. In every car, you have design elements where you can make three cars out of one, because there are an overkill of design elements. We don't need that… at Genesis, we are living in purity. We are reducing… to the beauty of the empty space, the white sheet of paper. We care a lot about the proportions.
(From Autocar & New York Auto Show)

No giant screens!

Note: the clean design was not applied to the wheels … I wouldn’t want to clean those spokes after a drive through a muddy field.

It reminds me of this show version of the Volvo Cross Country (that I wanted very much!)

It looks fantastic! I love the clean, elegant bodywork and interior, especially on such a chunky off-road vehicle . Thanks for posting the news here Mike, I'll look up some footage on YouTube from the presentation.... Cheers, Filip
