How did I get into this?
Pete was at a parking lot swap meet trying to sell a trailer he had built (another project). I wasn't looking for anything in particular but had some money in my pocket. A match made in heaven!
I came home with a home-built all-alloy feather-weight tear drop trailer for my 2CVs ...
I can see by the driveway (which I replaced in 1998) that this picture is mid-Nineties.
Yesterday I introduced myself to Pete at the event, and said,
"You won't remember me but I bought a teardrop trailer from you at a swap meet."
He replied,
"Of course I remember, do you recall when I opened the lid, the shocks pushed it up so fast it hit me in the face, cut my head and I was bleeding all over it?"
The man has a memory like an elephant.
Only Engines
Pete is an engine builder -- by that I mean he MAKES engines, not just puts some parts together for you. He can't help himself... For example, after noticing that the cylinder spacing on a Chevy big block was almost identical to that of a Porsche 928 moto...

The only appropriate vehicle I can imagine for this monster is a Prius.
I had a friend in high school with similar talents...
...he could take apart an engine and rebuild it, or even convert an automatic transmission to manual, all without any reference materials. And he was stoned 24/7 to boot : )
