I had a Pilot’s watch, but no Pilot’s car
This unacceptable situation is now corrected
After a thorough test drive I (and the whole family) fell in love with the Caterham 7… Signed the paperwork yesterday, and will pick up my car next week: new car with the perfect spec: 340 SV full options.
Options include some useful gadgets like: windscreen and whippers, heating system, soft doors and roof, lowered chassis, wide body, sport suspension package, bigger brakes and 13” inches “track” wheels.
Option list does not include: any driving assistance whatsoever (no ABS, no ESP, no assisted steering, no assisted driving), any infotainments.
Result: 180hp from a 2l Ford engine (easy maintenance) for 550kg with all fluids, equivalent to 540hp in a light 1.5 tons modern sports car.
You get the 100% analogue driving feel of 40 years ago, with modern supercar perf… No ABS means you lock the wheels pretty easily and the car tries to go sideways
My car will be “Viper Blue”, with addition of the perfect “war stripes”

The test drive: first 10 minutes felt “weird”, then the magic happened

My car, brand new at the Swiss importer, now waiting for the right stripes

My final spec
