I remember that issue of C&D . . .

 

. . . and the cover had a photo of the '65 Cobra ahead of the competitors from the Big Three.  I'd forgotten the Plymouth 340 Duster 'exceeded expectations', in today's parlance. 


Don't recall the factory horsepower rating of the standard 454 in that test, Georges, but doubt it was anywhere close to 450 . . . closer to the high-3xx mark.  There were optional versions of the 454 (and 427) in the 400+ range, but those were very rare even then, and practically impossible to find today in original condition.
