Automotive

I took it for an extended ride today (with helmet)

I was able to go from my house down to the boat, a distance of 2.2 miles in 12 minutes, 22 seconds  or 10.5 mph. In the car with traffic it takes longer, plus finding a parking space can take that long!

Then up to the store 1.75 miles uphill in about 11 minutes for 9.8 mph

and finally home on the third leg of a triangle for 2.30 miles in about 14 minutes or 10 mph (including up/down and stoplights)

So this is 6.25 miles going about 3-4 times faster than you could walk, and about the same time as driving the car.

Of course that's in reasonable (long sleeve) weather and moderate traffic using bike lanes and sidewalks.

Cheers,

Cazalea
