They are completely different means of transportation.
And not so sure a Model 3 (Performance) will be faster, I only had 3 'races' against a Model 3 (alway standard models I presume). One with the 280 hp Megane at a red light and he couldn't keep up, twice with the Clio 222 hp, from 70-ish kph up to 140 and the Model 3 didn't gain that much 
.. maybe 10 meters or so.
A Belgian F40 driven as it should be.
Please put your speakers at max and don't forget to put in your earplugs. This F40 is fitted with a Tube exhaust. ...

The F40 ..
.. is equipped with Japanese turbo's (IHI). This is a high revving turbo engine and with a nice exhaust they can scream as well. Not the high pitch as a .. let's say 9000 or 9500 rpm GT3 or F12.

Certainly different cars... But my point is the performance of an F40 is no longer "exotic". For example...
According to Google: F40: 0–60 mph: 4.1 seconds Model 3: 0–60 mph: 4.0 seconds The "Performance" Model 3 is 0–60 mph is 2.8 seconds. My point is the f40 was a SUPER expensive car (still is). A Model 3 is a very affordable car and it specs as well or bette...
Well, you can say the same about quartz and mechanical watches. Both give the time, the quartz being super more accurate, and much less expensive. ;)
But do you think this is the point? These old cars are like the difference between Guy Savoye and Mac Donald. They delight you, while the EV just transport you...
I did address that... But more and more I wonder what leg these classic really have to stand on.
What I mean to say that, for example, the interior of an F40 isn't really nice. The ride is hard and loud. When it came out the big "wow" was speed and certainly looks. Speed is no longer impressive so we are left with looks. I guess, for me, the differen...
I understand your point as well ... until ...
.... you try an f40 ;-) ... and then you will say it might not have any comfort compared to the Tesla but at 50 mph it feels ten times faster than the Tesla at top speed. And we're not even talking about the sound, vibrations etc.
Maybe. I'll certainly never a car to top speed so I guess I'll never know.
I've never been in an F40 but I have driven an Aventador and, thought it was much cooler looking and certainly more of a head turner, it felt sluggish and heavy after driving an EV. ICE is just old tech now - Like a prop plane vs jet.

It’s hopping like a go kart, as if the wheels were bolted to the car as opposed to suspended? Have seen quite some supercars driven also on bumpy roads but never jumping up and down like that 🤷🏻♂️
