Hi, Bim, The Ferrari Bertone Rainbow took this basic outline to an extreme. Many people also don't realize that Bertone built the X1/9 at Carrozzeria Bertone; they also built the Mini GP! Cheers, TM

but they were rust buckets even by the very early 80's. UK weather and Italian steel dont mix well. it does seem sad when so many iconic design houses start having their names attached to mainstream cars. Ghia is a prime example, its now just a word for a...

.. handled ? I found it to be a very amusing car with a very nice sound and great handling, my friend had the 1500 from 1987, it had 85 hp so it wasn't slow for that period ... but those brakes were really crappy, fading after two or three serious brake-m... 

I could not wait for the next issue of Motor Trend to be delivered so I could see all the great car designs (and read the articles). In the early 80's I wanted a new Corvette and my father said "If you get a Corvette now what will you have to look forward...

.. they did a fine job ! Remember, they had to start off with the standard Astra but i think they got the lines a lot better ... still an Ople (Vauxhall) though ... Ouch indeed. Bim

...the late 90's were pretty lean years for Bertone, they certainly weren't getting many 'supercar' contracts, nor have they done too well since Nuccio's death...but the Astra Cabrio was an outsourced engineering project from Opel. They did all the packag...
