Quite some car manufacturers are currently artificially limiting supply of their electric vehicles for two reasons - first of all they are not nearly as profitable with them as with the ICE ones, and secondly, especially in leasing and other setups, where they need to take the cars back they're losing money hand over fist due to very poor resale values. For the latter one it's a combination of their own fault (they partially do lobbying against electric cars) and partially a problem of incentives (used cars get no state support). In our company a lot of the people who got hooked on electric cars are now devastated that the car manufacturers don't offer them in the leasing programs anymore. So they change back but extremely unwillingly.
