Automotive

Two weeks ago I saw a Lotus parked on a street in Philadelphia. I don’t know what model but it had the top down and inside it looked like a toy car. It hardly had any seats, the cushions

…where very thin and on the floor of the car.  Everything else was just as spartan.  It could have been a race car but it made me think, inside, of a go kart.  And it didn’t look like a race car.  How could anyone enjoy driving that car around?  I remember the iconic Elan which was an MG, Triumph and even Austin Healy killer in races, specially in gymkhanas.  What a little monster.  It might even have had a twin cam engine, but I don’t remember.  However, ever since a Chinese group bought the brand I think they lost their allure.  I’m very sorry to hear they might be leaving the car scene.  Jim Clark must not be too happy.
