I'm not quite sure of your segue, but if I'm following you correctly, I completely agree. Though here on PuristSPro, we tend to take those things into account when we do the big picture commentary -
- our "test drives" tend to be for many hundreds of miles and several days or longer (less, we call "quick looks") But of course, even extended "test drives" can ignore depreciation and maintenance and, hopefully, long term reliability issues. Living with the car as a daily driver should shake out in our "test drives."
- many of our more detailed write ups (like unotaz' great Mac12C commentary) actually stem from ownership perspectives. Same with the WanderingPuristS' CL65 commentary. So things like reliability, maintenance, daily "liveability" do factor in to the commentary.
But as I noted earlier, your comments are on target and well taken.
