Blancpain Grande Double Sonnerie

 

Today Blancpain introduced their most ambitious and complicated timepiece to date, the Grande Double Sonnerie.



The timepiece features a Grande et Petite Sonnerie and a Minute Repeater, as a world’s first it chimes two alternative full melodies achieved by 4 hammers and 3 gongs.



The movement consists of 1053 parts, 21 patents were created during the creation of this masterpiece.



In addition the Grande Double Sonnerie features a fully integrated perpetual calendar.



And the famous Flying Tourbillon, updated to 4Hz, is also part of it.



There’s so much to tell about this timepiece of which only 2 per year will be created.

… this value retention topic is so boring and lame when talking about real artisanal work, tradition, innovative thinking and exceptional execution. Pieces like this are pure horological passion.

One can numb himself with this yesteryear slogan, and I’m with you, however the real world shows quite the opposite.

We all love this watches, but very few vote with their wallets! Let alone the sad fact that manufacturers managed to dilute the “Art, hand made” term so badly with the CNC’d production, that hardly anyone believes it…

It would not be inappropriate to call this a masterpiece🤩

Look at the handwork that must have gone into the movement. Till this point I was very impressed by the openwork Chopard had presented at Dubai watch week.

Chopard likely sounds better and

much more affordable (only when compared with this one, not by itself) and may look better aesthetically for some people. But BP is technically superior no doubt.
