Blancpain

Ex- Reveil GMT Watch Experience

Hello Greg:  I used to own a Blancpain Reveil GMT Alarm in Titanium and Rose Gold.  The plastic strap is the first part to be worn out before the two years warranty period (i.e. 16 months).  When the strap that I paid for arrived, I also found out that the power reserve of the watch being extremely poor (i.e. stop in 4 to 5 hours after wearing it for a prolong period of time).  So I brought it back to the Blancpain Boutique in Hong Kong to install the strap and check it.  They told me that the power reserve parts of my watch was damaged (probably by my watch winder???) but since the warranty has just expired, they would only charge me about US$1200 for the overhaul service which will take place at Singapore.  I find it unacceptable and they eventually repair it free of charge but did not mention much about the overhaul service.  When the watch returned from service and ready to be pick-up, I find out that the rotor was loose and not winding probably and required another check-up.  Subsequently, I trade-in the watch for another Blancpain.

Personally, I find the watch not as durable and relaible as most other Blancpain(s) and the power reserve requires an enormous amount of wrist movement and kinetic energy (being told by the salesman of the authorized dealer).  Last but not least, the overhaul service charge for the alarm is slightly more expensive than a perpetual calendar.  So I recommend you to bring your watch to the most nearest Swatch Group Centre for an estimate.  (Hopefully, the technician of your local Swatch Group Office was already trained for the GMT Alarm, if not, it will then be shipped to another service centre)

Hope the above information is useful to you.
