I did consider both.
For JLC, my complaint is (surprisingly?) the movement design. The way it changes the time zone makes the subdial reads the local time which bugs quite a bit. Actually, what I am more interested is the 2nd gen VC overseas dual time which uses exactly the same movement. Except the fact that a used overseas is still over my budget, I just cannot understand why they made that choice.
For Grand Seiko, I prefer the design of snowflake to the GMT models. If they made a snowflake GMT, that would be my top choice. Although I might still get myself a snowflake one day...one day...

To match the Breguet Reveil du Czar. I love the Breguet Marine 5817, but I think you should ditch the black dial and go white dial blued hands. It will not attract overmuch attention.
Maybe a Blancpain with black dial and a Breguet with white dial?

is Rolex a "no-go"? If you want it and can afford it why not get it (if that's what you want). I know the brands you mentioned are somewhat "under the radar" so to speak, except for the occasional seasoned eye so I can understand your no Rolex position so...
I think the problem really is coming more from myself than anyone else...

Yes. I took a look at GP traveller 2, great value in the used market, but it looks like they have not updated it for a long time. The vintage look may appeal to some people but aesthetically, I prefer the BP. Thanks!

Ignore the rudeness. As for a choice, I usually don't like telling people what to pick, but the Blancpain does have some extra complications that you might find useful.

The Blancpain dial is too busy for my taste. Breguet is cleaner. Enjoy whichever one you choose on it’s own merits. Congratulations.
