Strap removal tool suggestions?
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum but for folks who regularly swap out their own straps, can anyone advise what’s the best tool to use to remove the straps from my Leman that has a spring bar hole that is exposed thru the entire lug? I know there are specific tools to remove spring bars like the 2nd pic below but I don’t think these would work for my application. I am getting a little tired of having to travel into the city each time to get the factory replacement aligator straps that are like $400 plus each time, and maybe can try other types of straps once in a while. Also, any tips on how to not scratch the lugs while making a strap swap? Thanks in advance.

So I guess with these you just work on one side and carefully let the pin pop out from under the lug I guess, and then you can pull it out? I was hoping there was a tool that could get both sides at once without damaging the lugs. Lol.
I use the same.
Just do it from the back side, so if you do scratches, they are just at the inner side of the lugs…
Drilled lugs?
Are these not just drilled lugs? Narrow paper clip. Otherwise, the tool mentioned with Scotch tape or masking tape protecting the lugs. You could also use a Bergeon case knife, which is what I use, as its edge is polished. Again, protect the surfaces you’...
The tool you have posted is for ordinary spring bars your's are much easier to remove having drilled lugs.
The tool Ratskunk has posted is what you need as you just poke it in the drilled hole and depress the spring car so it comes out you do not need to depress both sides at once and this method has virtually zero chance to scratch the lugs at all. I would hi...

I have to also remove the spring bars in the clasp portion of the strap which I think the other tool would work well.
Actually I just realised I made a mistake being not fully awake.
The other end of that Bergon tool is also a spring bar remover as you just push it against the side of the spring bar that depresses and then it removes the spring bar that way. One tool should do both jobs for you although the second method does require ...
