I have just put a “rubberized” leather strap on mine.
After trying different colors, I always come back to black.
For the sweaty summer days, I always wanted to have something else than the black alligator.
I found this “rubberized” leather from Delugs which I am test driving since this morning. For now, I like it!

A black low-nap suede might work. Contrasting stitching to match the Tradition's gold color would be great. If you go too casual, it just won't look right. Do you have a matte black alligator strap on the piece currently? I feel OK wearing matte black str...
Dressing down is a fun thing to do.
I agree that something leather is the way to go. Just the right color like a tan with black stitch so it's not too "fashion-watch" looking to where the strap becomes the main attraction. And I personally would not consider a Nato for this beauty.
Matte black or grey works
That's how I've been wearing mine. It's dressed down a *bit* that way but it still doesn't look what I'd call casual. I suspect this might work with a taupe suede, which would be a bit further down, but I haven't tried it that way yet. ...

This won't be popular but I would definitely put that on an awesome bund strap.
A light brown, which would really contrast with the austere dial, could work.
Even alligator will not look formal.
Shell Cordovan is usually the right answer
I have a couple of the Hodinkee unlined and they are great. Vintage look would fit with the Tradition.
