Bulgari

Branding Issue

Is it just me or does anyone else find the prominence of the BVLGARI brand, particularly on the bezel, a wee-bit overpowering, to put it politely?  Rather than focusing on the beauty of the piece, the branding interferes, announcing itself before any other aspect of the watch.  I think that a company, especially in the upper echelons, should feel confidence enough in the quality and distinctiveness of their product to not make their label a huge part of the design, if at all.

Clothing and accessory companies participate in this practice, Louis Vuitton and Gucci come to mind immediately, and I've always found the company insignia as part of the style and brand too ostentacious.  In my opinion, it's an announcement of the price you paid, a posturing if you will.  In addition, the purchaser provides the company with free advertising.  Yes, I acknowledge there is a market for it or the companies wouldn't continue making these designs.   However, I'd like to see what others feel about this tendency to accentuate a name rather than let it speak for itself.
