Cartier

And the famous 5th Avenue store in New York swapped for $100 and a pearl necklace

That was famously purchased by Pierre Cartier in 1917 for a pearl necklace worth $1 million and $100 cash (this was before the cultured pearl came along; pearls then were as valuable as diamonds if not more so). The seller was millionaire Morton Plant who was moving uptown as the previously high-end residential midtown area gradually became the commercial area it is today.
