Ah! Our in-house Chopard guru! Thanks for replying, Melvyn!
I sent the watch in for servicing due to a few things:
1) Routine servicing due
2) Minor blemishes on the bevels
3) Geneva seal logo was not painted (which I believe was an initial QC issue)
4) Sticking date (a well known issue on 1.96s)
In fact, only the largest bridge(the one with the geneva seal logo) was affected.
Like what you've said, I had the same postulation on why a bridge swop was done instead of restoration work:
a. Risk of removing too much metal
b. Extended down time with repainting the logo / re-polishing the bevels / rhodium re-plating
Which, the above issues could be fixed simply and immediately with a bridge swop.
I know it's the same movement with the same sublime quality so I'm not complaining. Moreover, I just got myself a "piece unique" Ref. 16/1860/2 after the servicing. It will remain "piece unique", until another one comes along... LOL
And just to add, the servicing at Singapore's MBS Chopard boutique was truly awesome! Big thanks to Mr Vincent Ong who'd handled my watch servicing from day one until the day I got back my watch. Mr Scheufele, if you are reading this, please give Vincent a big medal for his dedicated customer service! *Two thumbs up*
