Chopard

I am somewhere halfway between you and the designer

Marcus,

I admit it: the Redline has turned into a bit of an "obsession", when I study the evidence of my past postings on the subject. i did not realise it until pointed out by you.

As I said, I do not usually like "go-faster" stripes but it is the metallic sheen of the red colour and the association with the redline on dashboard instruments that caught my eye.

For the 2013 MIlle Miglia, the red line also emphasised the precision of abutting two rehaut rings together so the markers  match. They could not achieve the same crisp lines with two paint colours so two rings had to be used. That brought its own assembly problem that was solved. We would not even know based on visual inspection alone.

Marcus: you and I are probably amongst the oldest PuristS moderators in terms of birth year; so you know that I am usually conservative in my design choice too. I'm not into too many outsized Allen-key nuts and ventilation strakes either, but understand the need for Chopard to explore the spectrum of design audacity within the confines of the automotive theme.

Someone wrote: "There is no such thing as a perfect design to please all the people, all the time.....that would be a bland motif."............Hey! That was me smile

On the 2013 Mille Miglia editions, I can see why they went back a bit from the daring 2012 versions. 2013 is the 50th anniversary of the Scheufele family stewardship of Chopard & Cie S.A. There may be some return to an older motif but with modern technology for this anniversary year.......

In conclusion, I am somewhere between you and the designer on the spectrum of design motifs for the 2013 Mille Milia watches.

Regards,
Melvyn
