Chopard

When I first saw the new Chopard 2013 watches

I had to miss Baselworld 2013 due to a scheduling conflict.  Even more irksome was that my "conflict" was cancelled the week before Baselworld so there were no contingency travel plans. Even more difficult were the accommodation shortages.

Still, I had a sneak preview of the Chopard watches and jewellery some months before and had to "sit on my hands" or "cover my mouth" all that time!  There were so many novelties and very good ones too.

I was particularly struck by the changes to the Mille Miglia, Happy Sport and LUC lines.

There is no such thing as a perfect design to please all the people, all the time.....that would be a bland motif.

So, one has to pick up on 'significant' changes that Chopard introduced. Despite the wonders of modern website technology and HD video-sharing, there is no substitute for the Mark I eyeball and educated finger.

The feel of the new case lugs, 'amphitheatre' display backs, dials, rehaut bezels, crowns and pushers all make the new watches.....well.....new!  There is no reference point using memory alone so people who moan, "I did not like the old Mille Miglia before" really have to use their personal 3D vision and their own touchy-feely 'real' reality instead of virtual reality to recognise the quality.

One case in point (sic) is the redline on the rehaut dial bezel. The "glow" of the metallic red finish has not been caught by our photographs...so far.  I don't usually believe in go-faster stripes but these really make the watches "Pop", in the vernacular of my teenage nieces.
