30T movement questions

 

I'm wondering what the big wheel in the movement in the lower picture (with 16 jewels just on top of that) is and what it does.  I'm guessing the lower picture is also a pic of the 30t2scrg movement?

What is the label for the first nmovement?  Just 30t?

What are the differences of the 30t, 30t2, 30t2sc and 30t2scrg movements?  I have also seen a 30t2PC movement?

Also, is one more deemed more collectable or better than the other?  Which is the one that did well (better?) in the chronometer competitions?

Lots of noob questions I know so your patience and indulgence is appreciated.

The big wheel you refer to is the wheel driving the central sweep seconds hand. You will see it all the centre seconds versions of the 30mm calibres. It is not present in the versions of these movements that featured small sub-seconds hands. The movement ...

The difference between the 30 T2 SC rg and the 30 T2 Rg is that one is sweep seconds and the other sub-seconds. I don't personally own either of these, and will leave it others to comment on the relative collectability or rarity of the different versions ...

between the two versions is largely personal preference. The sub seconds configuration appeals to some for its historical relevance while the central sweep seconds is appealing for its utility (easily read). But others will be more knowledgeable. tempusfu...

is the one most commonly seen historically. Older pocket watches had this configuration. Dornblueth chose it for his initial new creations as hommage to his predecessors. It might be viewed as the "classic" dial. At least this is my understanding. Others ...

Great info. I use got hold of a Zenith Cal 135 and I'm looking at other well regarded vintage movements now. Guess the vintage bug is starting to bite at me LOL
