Hello Arthur.... The 30 mm family of movements...
Hi Arthur
The 30 mm family of movements were produced from 1939 to about 1962. This was a work horse movement for Omega for many years. It has a warm spot in the hearts of collectors as well as watchmakers.
Some of the most uncommon are the "First Run " of 600 units made in early 1939. Followed by the Rg , deluxe finished executed chronometre with Omega regulation system ( no one is sure on the numbers produced but insiders say some where in the 20,000 units made).
There are more then a few 30 mm collectors on this forum and a few will chime in over the next few days....
What I think is great about ANY of the 30 mm movements, if they were not abused and found in nice condition a competent watchmaker can preform a full service and there should be no reason for the movement to keep close if not to wrist chronometer specs. Every Omega collector should have at lest one in the collection...
I hope this wets your appetite.
Good Hunting

The big wheel you refer to is the wheel driving the central sweep seconds hand. You will see it all the centre seconds versions of the 30mm calibres. It is not present in the versions of these movements that featured small sub-seconds hands. The movement ...

Very useful and easy to understand info. Much appreciated. So the only difference between the 30T2SCRG and the 30T2RG is the central swepp seconds function? Which will you say is more collectable (I do like the big wheel of the central seconds for the mov...

The difference between the 30 T2 SC rg and the 30 T2 Rg is that one is sweep seconds and the other sub-seconds. I don't personally own either of these, and will leave it others to comment on the relative collectability or rarity of the different versions ...
I think the choice...

between the two versions is largely personal preference. The sub seconds configuration appeals to some for its historical relevance while the central sweep seconds is appealing for its utility (easily read). But others will be more knowledgeable. tempusfu...
