A surprise at the AD - the Grand Seiko SBGR071

I have to say I was completely unaware of the model - the SBGR071 - prior to seeing it in the shop window of the local AD. So on a whim I wanted to take a look...

It's still of the pre-rebranding era and at 37mm it's amongst the smaller GS watches. A tad thick at 13mm but overall a great fit on the wrist regardless.

What differentiates the model though is the charcoal and red colour scheme. It's not only my picture - the hands and markers actually have a grey colour, going from graphite to charcoal to black depending on the angle.

They are still GS polished and impeccably finished but so different due to their unique (for GS) hue.

Together with the red accents the combination works a treat IMHO.

And small details like the red tip of the seconds hand make it even more appealing.

What do you think? Any owners?

Have a great weekend!
