Basel World Report and Live Photos

I wanted to share a bit of my Basel World experience with the team. For those that have not beenI highly recommend it. Switzerland in general is a pleasure and the excitement of Basel World only adds to it.

Swiss Air flight from the US to Zurich. One sleeping pill and poof you're there.

Post-Flight nourishment at the Zeughauskeller

Zurich always looks so Swiss (a good thing)

The train service in Switzerland is so nice. A pleasure.

Arriving at Basel SBB in an hour's time. A short tram ride and

The BIG brand names are front and center

Here are Live Photos of some of what I though were the highlights. First, my 3 favorites

The re-issue of the Seamaster 300

And the original, which the had to compare. I have to say the reissue looks great. Happy it is 39mm. Even small details like the hippocampus in the center of the crystal were honored. Like the original it's just a gorgeous design. My only issue with it is it's a bit blingy because it does not have that all-over patina which is harmonious with a patina dial. If I had to choose between the new one and the original I'd take the original. (The movement is more beautiful too). I'm very happy to have my CK 14755. (Thanks Nicholas wink) but I would consider one of these at what I consider a very fair price.

I also absolutely loved the re-issue of the Seiko 62 MAS, Seiko's first diver from 1965. Its larger at 42mm but otherwise faithful. The dial is gorgeous. The original is impossible to find. I searched extensively for one when I was in Tokyo last year and couldn't find one. (I don't think they exported many, or maybe any). Here's the original, which they showed side by side

My next highlight is one that caught me by surprise because I never had too much love for it. The skydweller with gorgeous blue dial and in steel

A special award must go to Jacob & Co which, in addition to crazy blingy watches suited for an entertainer or sports star, they offered visitors complimentary caviar and Dom Perrignon champagne. I easily earned back the cost of the ticket (60 SF) with the amount of champagne and caviar I consumed here. As an added bonus, they also had the most gorgeous models in the show who were happy to be photographed.

Now back to watches. Here are some others I picked to share

The new Sea Dweller. It's BIG
