Battle of the steel: 5565 vs 565
Lately I have been increasingly drawn to simplicity. Unfortunately I have limited opportunities to handle vintage or limited edition Patek timepieces as I know of few places in my vicinity that allow me to indulge in this pleasure. So I am reaching out for some thoughts on the following. What is your preference between the Patek 5565 and the Patek 565 (in steel with breguet numerals and either version of second hands).
Here are my early thoughts on pros and cons that I can think of. Worth mentioning is that it would be intended to be worn regularly in rotation as a daily timepiece. One thing I am wondering is the dial on the 5565 on some photos looks all white. I assume only one dial version was made and angles and lightning sometimes makes this look all white and sometimes gray and white?
5565 pros: newer so less fragile?, limited edition of 300 released in 2006 (the year my first child was born), luminous hands and hour indexes practical for daily wear, water resistant to 30m,
5565 cons: 215PS movement a bit ordinary and average? not an individually numbered limited production piece?
565 pros: the real deal? classic elegance at its best, history and heritage, spectacular dial particularly with applied Breguet numerals, more rare particularly in each dial configuration,
565 cons: too fragile and precious to be worn daily? more expensive to buy, costlier to service vintage Patek,
Anyone have experiences to share with any or both of these? Do they wear similarly on the wrist? Any pros and cons to share with either or both most appreciated!
