Belated new watch alert - Grand Seiko SLGW005 (45GS remake)
Hi everyone, I haven’t posted for a loooooooong time!
Glad to be back this weekend 
In recent months, I got “rebitten” by the GS bug. Sharing a belated incoming post. I got this GS SLGW005 in Dec 2024, the remake of the legendary 45GS. This is a home run for Grand Seiko last year ! An early Christmas present for myself and just in time for my vacation last Dec to Osaka and Kyoto.
Other than the beautiful and technically impressive hibeat manual winding 9SA4 movement, the 45GS case is really iconic and just looks so good ! The off white dial is also very Japanese. And this watch is such a strap monster too - I don’t really like the black leather strap that comes with the watch and it easier pairs up with various calf leather and rubber straps I have. Sharing some pics below.

At the same time I got this SLGW005. Both are nice but I chose the iconic 45GS remake . With limited budget, I couldn’t choose both! But when I saw these autumn scenes in Japan, I did think of the SBGY035 again lol
I came close to buying that watch in Copenhagen last November.

I have some regrets not getting it and asked again lately but it’s all sold out in Singapore. However, the GS boutique managed to get me another “NOS” spring drive watch which I will share later.

Finished really well for the price point and a step up for GS (of course they charge more for references with their newer movements). Dual impulse escapement and that wagtail bird clicking when winding the watch makes winding this watch a joy

And yes, that GS is a winner (home run) in my mind too. I’ve seen it a few times and have been super tempted. I have managed to restrain myself however (trying to be more disciplined these last few years).
