Breitling Navitmer Reference 806
Hi All,
Iam not a big fan of Breitling and had never owned one and desired for one until this one came across. This is a Navitmer reference 806 circa 1964 and as per many B specialist its a rare piece to find. It has a Venus 178 Movement and the piece acquired is in absolute mint condition. The love began until i wore it on my wrist…gives me the feeling of a pilot with bomber leather jackets and jeans with boots…lol Further finding led to a fact that few were made back then and few are being avbl for sale on ebay etc. Anyhow i took the plunge couple of months ago…Few wrist shots.
Some facts about the watch :
- The word Navitimer is a combination of word Navigation and Timer and the watch was originally developed for pilots as a navigation watch, and pilots could use the see rule for calculations of flight time, fuel consumption & remaining distances. The early references like my watch has a AOPA (Aircraft owners & pilot association) logo on the watch which is a double wing right above the breitling name.
Movement Specification: Venus 178 with lever movement, stem wind, 18000 B.P.H. 17 jewels.
cheers,
Ovi

Like you, not really following Breitling, but I do dream of getting an 806 soon. I was this close to getting one in London a couple of months ago, similar to yours. but I am holding out in favour of hopefully finding one with the black dial and black subd...

…a very nice second generation in excellent condition. BTW, that is not the AOPA logo on your dial--it is the logo Breitling put on these second gen Navitimers initially. In the second generation they added the white sundials and started selling the Navit...

The golden case is, indeed, rare. Nice acquisition, well done. Where did you find it ? I have a '66 like yours, I'm also in love. I'd like to go back in the '50's, but once you go before 1962, Navis in good conditions become very expensive - and rare. Tha...
congrats, nice one !

just a small correction, the Venus cal. V178 is a crown wheel, not a lever movement. if u are interested in the generations & like to see some more Navitimers, here are some that show the development over the model life span: beware, these are highly...
