Calibre 1400 - your thoughts and experiences much appreciated

I have a few watches as candidates for a dress-watch, and the beautiful large Patrimony is among them. Yet, Ei8htohm's thorough review of the cal. 1400 (in the Malte) has set some doubts in my mind. The movement analyzed was an "early" example, so improvements, especially on the finishing part, may - or may not! - have taken place.

One other candidate is the PP 5196, but the cal. 215 is a veteran, a well-known, multiple-improved calibre - the 1400 is not. I have deep respect for the craftmanship of VC, is the 1400 on par with the 215?

Unfortunately both watches sport a tiny movement in a large case (especially the Patrimony), but I have decided I could live with that, if the quality is undisputed.

Many thanks in advance for your responses.

Sven
