Dear all!
Since quite a time I'm becomming more and more interested in vintage precision movements designed and built for the observatory chronometer contests. Not that I'm counting the seconds, but I appreciate all the efforts that were made to achieve best possible accuracy in times before quartz was born.
One of the seldomly discussed movements are the ones made by Jaeger-LeCoultre. Especially the calibres P 478/BW SBr and the later automatic cal. 881G or 883S catched my interest. These ones are made in small numbers (about 1300 for the P 478 and 4500 for the 881/883), which make them quite interesting.
Does anybody have more informations and scans about the movements and watches (Ref. E 168 and E 398/399 are of special interest for me due to their classic appearance)? How do the movements compare to other classic chronometer movements?
Thanks a lot any input is highly appreciated!
Best regards,
Magnus
