When I first became interested in watches my wife asked me how many watches I thought I need. My answer at the time (not very long ago) was 3: one for daily wear to the office, one more robust for weekends and holidays, and one nice dress watch. Clearly this was a mistake on my part since 3 watches can never be enough, but my question to those of you who have been in this game for a long time is how many is enough. Too many is in my opinion also not good since I do not want to own watches that never see wrist time (just my personal opinion and obviously not shared by everyone on this forum). Hope you can help me come up with a sensible number.........and some good excuses I can give my wife when trying to explain away another watch purchase.

I think it has to be an individual choice. Some might want to spend all their money on one top end watch, while others may spend less to have multiple pieces. Finances, family situation, other responsibilities are going to be different for everyone. Set y...
