Jaeger Lecoultre Master Ultra Thin Reserve de Marche Blue Dial. A good example of a new case for the Master Family?
I already unveiled this novelty from this year, a watch I discovered at the SIHH 2017 in Geneva.
Here is the link to my previous article:
A watch I saw, once again, during my visit at the Manufacture, in July.
Which made me wonder IF there was a significant change behind this watch: Are we attending a new move, or a start of a change towards Master Ultra Thin cases, which will be used in the new Master Line?
Indeed, the Master RDM had a master case, till 2012. Since then, the size gained 2 mm ( 39 mm ) and a new case, thinner, more elegant...
Ultra Thin, this designation is a bot exagerated... With a case whose height is 9, 8 mm, we are not in the category of Ultra Thin watches.
Still, the profile is thin, elegant, dressy. More actual, too, as I have the ( personal ) feeling that the Master case is outdated, now.
From 39 to 41 mm watches belonging to the Master line, I would well see a generalisation of the use of Master Ultra Thin cases.
Except for sports watches which will logically need a stronger case.
Look at this Master Ultra Thin Reserve de Marche. Don't you think it is a good illustration of an excellent move towards the use of big MUT cases?
As for the watch in itself, I find the blue dial very good looking and appealing.
It plays with the light, its hue changes with light conditions.
Here are two recent pictures I took in July.

Another detail I like a lot is the bevels of the lugs. They compliment the whole watch, and especially its sophisticated dial.
A classic of the Jaeger Lecoultre catalog, revisited in a modern way, rather than a true novelty.
As often observed, it is strange to see how a different color can change your perception of a watch.
Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,
Best.
