Montblanc

Montblanc brings joy on 3/11, the sorrow mourning day for Japan - Novelties Live Pics.

Montblanc doesn't forget.  It's been 5 years since the disaster.  No matter how old it gets, it never ceases to bring tears to my eyes, thinking of those who were lost, who lost the loved ones, who lost something or everything, and we were all affected in one way or the other.

Now, today Montblanc invited press and some customers to the 2016 Novelty Presentation.  They borrowed the Presidential Suite at a popular hotel in Roppongi area and it was very nice setting indeed.

This is actually a hotel room smile))!  (of course, just a part of it - behind me is a indoor swimming pool and behind the TV is the dining and beyond which is the huge bedrooms......)

We are watching the Montblanc 4810 Collection promotion video - super cool, very, very well made.

Shingo Hisai, Communication Manager of Montblanc Japan starts the show.

Maxime Harrar, CEO of Montblanc Japan makes the opening remark.

"This is the very sad day for Japan.  I was not here 5 years ago when it happened, but I was in NY when 9/11 happened, so I can relate myself somewhat.  Montblanc always thinks of those who suffered.  We made special limited edition pens last year.  They sold out quickly, but there is still one left and it it to be auctioned and all the revenue will be donated to Rikuzen-Takata city.  The bid is accepted at our Ginza boutique in person or fax.  Starting today and ending on March 25th 18:00 JST.  Montblanc is a luxury brand, but we know we must contribute to the society in return of the love and support we receive.
This year is Montblanc's 110th Anniversary and we will launch special pens and such, as well as the very fine 4810 watch collection we proudly make with passion.  I hope you enjoy."

He started his remark in Japanese... is he reading something? smile)

Soon after, he started the English part.  Yes, let's enjoy the fine watches now!

There are so many, so please bear with me and read through all the way down.

Montblanc 4810 Exo Tourbillon Slim
42mm diameter
Stop Second indicator at 3h is inspired by the old time's ship equipment, like ship control telegraph.

18K Red Gold.

Micro rotor.... nicely finished bridge.

42mm?  Nicely fit on my small wrist...

Montblanc 4810 Exo Tourbillon Slim 110 Years Edition Asia LE of 38.
18K White Gold
Stop Second mechanism works as well and the second is shown on the Tourbillon Cage with red pointer.

Of course, hand made dial - miniature painting.  All must be slightly different smile

Nice...

Europe Edition, LE of 36
There is Americas Edition, LE of 36, too.
So, in total, 38 + 36 + 36=110!

Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum Pocket Watch 110 Year Edition, LE of 110
53mm, Stainless Steel Case.
I think this is a very nice version of Orbis Terarrum series for the eye getting old like mine....., and cool to carry around.

Engraved "Deutschland" ship on the back.

Montblanc Boheme Exo Tourbillon Jewellery
Also has Stop Second mechanism.
38mm diameter, 9.37mm thickness.

Nice touch on the buckle.

Stone on the crown top, too.

Montblanc Time Walker Exo Tourbillon Minute Chronograph LE of 100
DNA of Time Walker continues.  This Exo Tourbillon makes the smaller cage possible and saves 30% energy, which is used efficiently for the chronograph with little to no effect on its accuracy.

Titanium and carbon case.

Twin barrels automatic.

Tens of thin carbon fiber sheets are pressed and glued with the special resin with 10 tons of pressure and high heat.  Super light and hard.

Monopusher chronograph works just like the other Time Walker.
44mm diameter, 16.27mm thickness.

And one of the most "loved" already model - Montblanc 1858 Chronograph Tachymeter Blue Limited Edition 100.
Please pardon the fake leather strap with a bit strange color (sample import/export process requires fake leather, so...).

Stainless steel case and big window on the back to show-off!

Minerva brand chronograph is something I would love to own one day..... drooling.....  What a beautifully done movement!

44mm diameter, 13.15mm thickness.  A bit on the big side for me - I would be on the fence....  but.... smile)

Here is the monopuhser working (sorry for poor quality video...)

Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Chronograph Annual Calendar.

42mm Diameter.
With function and mechanism inside, this doesn't look or wear too big at all.

As shown before, interesting way to display the moonphase.

Beautifully made dial.

Montblanc Heritage Spirit Date Automatic (2015 model)

39mm, Red Gold with 60 diamonds set.

Montblanc Meisterstuck Heritage Spirit Perpetual Calendar (2015 model)

39mm, Red Gold, 60 diamonds set on the bezel.

Montblanc Heritage Spirit Perpetual Calendar (2015 model)

40mm, 72 brilliant cut diamonds set bezel.

Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie Exo Tourbillon Minute Chronograph LE of 28
The basic model was launched last year but now in the more luxurious case with diamonds on the bezel and 12h.

Beautiiful Aventurine dial.

Red marker as the second hand - has stop second mechanism.

The heavy hitter #1 comes:
Villeret Tourbillon Cylindrique Geospheres Nightsky Limited Edition of 18
We saw the model at 2015 SIHH, and this 2nd generation of the model is in the white gold case and grey, chic dial.

47mm diameter, 16.60mm thickness.  Not THAT extremely big to me.

Beautifully made dial.

And the heavy hitter #2:
Montblanc Tourbillon Cylindrique Pocket Watch Limited Edition of 8.

Just "wow".....

60mm white gold case.  Solid gold dial.

What a engraving on the movement....

What is so amazing is this dome sapphire glass.  Impressive!

Will come with 18K White Gold chain.
Lucky 8 future owners......  I am drooling.....

Index is engraved outside the glass.

And there is unique piece related to this - Tourbillon Cylindrique Pocket Watch & Navigator Unique Piece - which did not make it to Tokyo this time......  Would love to see one!

Anyway, thanks for reading through this long post.

Thanks, as always:
Mr. Maxime Harrar, CEO, Montblanc Japan
Mr. Shingo Hisai, Communication Manager, Montblanc Japan
Ms. Haruyo Naka, Marketing Director, Montblanc Japan

Great year for Montblanc, and again, thank you for your help for those who are still struggling at the disaster area 5 years after.......

Best,
Ken

PS....
==================================================================

As for me, while living hundreds of kilometers away, when I came home on foot (all the trains, subways were knocked out even in Tokyo), just to find my study like this:

The power of M9.0 earthquake is so merciless.  Sure I got insurance, and monetary damage was not much, but I was amazed, shocked, imagining how much worse it was near the epicenter and the tsunami disaster area.

To make the fact straight, most of the Fukushima prefecture (where the nuclear plant is/was) is safe now:

About Montblanc's help to the disaster area, please read my last year report here:

As Mr. Harrar said, the pen made from the "Miracle Pine Tree" are of course all sold out, but there is one left - a sample or prototype they made - which Montblanc Japan will auction off starting now and the hammer price will be all donated to the same city, Rikuzen-Takata city, one of MANY hardest hit cities.  I, as a Japanese, cannot thank enough and it reminds us all of the long and deep relationship between the brand, Montblanc and this country.
