A few pictures of the case to document its condition before we start testing the Dual carbon coating.
It is black but is extremely polished, very different than the PVD coating on the PPro ABR.

This case was rejected by Montblanc's QI team because of cosmetic issues. A close look demonstrates why...the DLC coating did not make its way into the area between the lugs and case. It also looks like there may be a little rust at the bottom of the spring bar holes under high magnification.

This was noticed at all four lugs. Notice the double spring bar holes in the lugs. This not only provides extra security but was designed so the strap could hug close to the case. I guess this also means that customers will need to source their straps directly from Montblanc (not that I can imagine any other suitable color combination for this watch except for black) or else the extra hole would be visible under close inspection.

Interestingly the DLC coating was perfect in between the chronograph actuators and the crown. The polished surfact is vunerable to fingerprints!

Recessed luminescent pearl

Taking the case back off reveals no coating on the inside surface but the rim demonstrates that the case back was exposed to the heat during the hardening process.

The areas where rubber gaskets would be set to provide the Sports chronograph with 20Bar water resistance. The chronograph be functionned at that depth too.

I think it was press fitted. I didnot see any rubber gaskets between the crystal and case.

Cheers,
Mike
