Friends,
Sharing some pictures I took today of my first pocket watch.
In 1998, under the leadership of Gino Macaluso, Girard-Perregaux acquired the Villa Marguerite to be the museum to house priceless heritage pieces for the brand. Many priceless pocket watches sit within. One such example is the Esmeralda pocket watch that won multiple awards and where we first saw the iconic three bridges appear.
It was therefore appropriately decided that a pocketwatch be created to mark the occasion. It would be a Japan only special edition of 70 pieces.
This totally off-catalog piece is in sterling silver and 50 mm in diameter. Lovely heft to it.
The clean dial with the alternate applied breguet numbers and dot indices is delightful. The leaf hands are also in white metal to complete the elegant appeal.
Small running seconds on the dial is housed in a hunter case with the engraving of the villa on the front and the individual LE number on the back.
Secured with a sterling silver chain, I'll attach this to a belt loop with the watch in my pocket ... for special occasions.
Neo-vintage GP is fascinating to me. Especially the special pieces like these which are off-catalog.
Hope you enjoy the pics and the history behind this darling.
