Need help dating VC

I recently inherited a VC from my late grandfather and I need some help on identifying the date of manufacture and anything else you can tell me. Unfortunatly recent circumstances have force me into a position where I need to sell it.

On back case:
335753
18K  0.750 (gold I assume)

On movement:
1001
VXN
502592

I would also like your opinion on it's ball park value (in a PM). I plan on having it appraised by at least three shops, but I just wanted an idea of what I have first.

Also, would having it professionally restored ( scratches buffed out of crystal and gold, movement adjusted and lubricated, etc.) significantly raise the value? I understand that this procedure is very expensive if done by a reputable craftsman, would I recoup my expense? Should this be done before or after I have it appraised?
