Now a Lange guy...

 

Had a chance to acquire this piece, and couldn't pass it up.  It's certainly consistent with my recent vow to sell off many of my more modest pieces and focus in on a smaller number of really special watches:












Sorry that these images are not up to my usual standard, but my DSLR and macro lens are 5500 miles away at the moment -- I'll try to take and post some better shots next week.

Congratulations, Gary, on this Datograph! A lovely executed watch with a convenient big date and a sapphire back which exposes the beauty of the movement. Even if I would "concentrate" my collection, it would not do for this lovely watch, sigh .... I find...

Congrats on this watch! You know my opinion--the Dato ranks up there with the all-time best watches, and this one is simply beautiful, front and back, and on and off the wrist. We do need to get together for a "Dato lunch"!

Great idea to have a portrait of the heavy hitters first, and then different combination shots... Like you do with a big family, uncles and aunts with grannies first, then with kids, etc In the mean time, enjoy each of your family members

You really have got yourself one of the best chronos out there, with a movement second to none! The RG will sit much better on the wrist than the heavier Pt. and probably be less common ( relatively speaking). cheers fernando

Now I have to fulfill the vow about selling off the other pieces! My wife and I have a deal that any watch purchase amounts not offset by sales have to be matched in her "jewelry fund" -- so I have a double incentive to trim my collection... Best, Gary

The finishing really is lovely -- and for me the dial is just as crisp as the movement. You may well be right that this is not my last -- I've been thinking about the TZ for several years now, and my experience so far with the Dato is making me even more ...
