Had a chance to acquire this piece, and couldn't pass it up.  It's certainly consistent with my recent vow to sell off many of my more modest pieces and focus in on a smaller number of really special watches:

Congratulations, Gary, on this Datograph! A lovely executed watch with a convenient big date and a sapphire back which exposes the beauty of the movement.

Even if I would "concentrate" my collection, it would not do for this lovely watch, sigh ....
I find consolation in the fact that ALS as a German brand manage to compete with the overmighty Swiss watch manufacturers .

I have read (only) and followed this forum for a couple years ago. You and many guys here are my inspiration for Datograph.
Your post stimulated me to share my Datograph I rarely see anybody talk about datograph in pink gold.

I for one, hope to see more pictures and impressions from you regarding your watch(es).

But happy that I was able to capitalize on the opportunity!

You have no doubt had a Dato on your wrist -- my thought based on some of your past posts is that the RG may be better for small wrists, given that it is lighter overall than the PT version and that the Dato is a watch that sits pretty high on the wrist. I do find that because the bezel is quite wide the Dato wears "smaller" than 39 cm.

You know my opinion--the Dato ranks up there with the all-time best watches, and this one is simply beautiful, front and back, and on and off the wrist.

We do need to get together for a "Dato lunch"!

I appreciate your post -- I am really charged up about joining the Lange fraternity with this great piece! Will be interesting to see how many Datos we can get at one table...and perhaps we can convince some of the attendees to bring other jewels from their Lange collections.

...with a couple of special pieces inbound over the next several months! This is turning out to be a big year for me, with (so far) the Thalassa, the VC OS Ti/SS Chrono, and the Dato -- and a special piece from KV and (fingers crossed) my Vyskocil VA still to come.

Life could be a lot worse!
